We are seeking a Senior Manager of IP Prosecution to join our Washington, DC office. This role provides firmwide leadership for the Intellectual Property Prosecution function, overseeing patent and trademark operations and ensuring the delivery of efficient, high-quality support to attorneys and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all aspects of the firm’s domestic and international IP prosecution dockets, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
Supervise and develop a team of docketing professionals, patent agents, patent law clerks, and IP administrative staff, including Patent Prosecution Specialists and Trademark Paralegals and Specialists.
Establish and implement best practices, workflows, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
Assign and monitor work, conduct performance evaluations, and support professional development initiatives.
Track and communicate updates in IP laws and regulations across U.S. and foreign jurisdictions.
Serve as a liaison between attorneys, internal departments, and external vendors or agencies.
Oversee training and development programs for IP administrative staff.
Manage complex and specialized IP projects in support of attorneys and clients.
Monitor departmental budgets and related expenses.
Oversee case and client intake, as well as file transfer processes.
Provide hands-on prosecution support as needed.
Maintain oversight of IP records management and file room operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Minimum of five (5) years of patent prosecution experience, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory role.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and IP-related systems, including USPTO tools and docketing platforms such as Inprotech; familiarity with SAEGIS and Coresearch preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative, team-oriented approach.
Flexibility to work additional hours and travel as needed.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $154,000 to $192,500. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
